For Chris Downey, being on the water is second nature. It was the summer of 1977, and he was just three years old when he joined his father and uncle on an offshore fishing trip out of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. From that trip on, every summer was spent on the water. Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Boynton Beach, Delray, Boca Raton, Costa Rica, and Bermuda are just a few of his favorite spots.

Following his high school graduation, Chris attended NC State for a short period before joining the Navy, where he was assigned to the USS John F. Kennedy CV-67. During his five years in the Navy serving our country, he spent four years on the water traveling the world. Shortly after his honorable discharge, his sales career began when he took a job selling radio advertising sales in Clear Channel Orlando. He later moved to Greenville, SC, where he continued selling radio advertising and worked his way into management. A couple of years later, his first daughter Elle was born, followed by his second daughter, Piper, and third daughter Isla. Throughout all of this, though, Chris never stopped yearning for a life spent by the water. Finally, in 2015 his family decided to move to South Florida, where he ran a group of radio stations in North Palm Beach. A few short months later, he left the broadcasting world to join his father at his company selling boats.

In 2021 with years of success in the industry and ready for his next adventure, Chris, along with his partner and friend Denny Howell, opened DH Yacht Sales. Driven by knowledge and experience, he fulfilled his life-long dream of opening his very own yacht brokerage. In between selling some of the best boats built, Chris still finds time to get away and fish tournaments such as the White Marlin Open, Mid-Atlantic, Custom Shootout, White Marlin Round Up, and the Bermuda Series.
